King Soleil
The King Soleil Boutique

King Soleil was born to incorporate two loves in my life: being a stay-at-home mommy to my children, Kingston and Soleil, and sharing intricately handmade, one-of-a-kind treasures for you and the little ones in the world.  The design focus blends modern lines and color with a child safe, eco-conscious, family friendly sensibility.  My goal?  Rather than tromping through our planet in clunky archaic boots, let’s lighten our carbon footprint for this generation and that of our children by gliding in feather light stilettos.  The outdated schema of recycling; muddy brown paper, muted color, and ill-fitting hand-me-downs is long gone.  Elegance and modernism are brought to life incorporating upcycled, organic, and sustainable materials with traditional, age-old crafts and techniques.

The Baby Layette and Children’s Upcycled Clothing Line are made from high quality recycled fabrics like cashmere, silk, and merino wools, and include crochet and hand-sewn detailing.  Upcycled and organic crochet rugs, as well as upcycled fabric embroidery hoop art, add a touch of eco-friendliness charm to the home and nursery.  Crochet clothing, accessories, and baby blankets are made with love, stitch by stitch, inch by inch.

How King Soleil was, quite literally, born:

Even as a child I displayed more than a passing interest in design and repurposing; my favorite pastime was twisting and knotting my mother’s fabric scraps into doll clothes. As a teenager, I indulged in snipping my father’s jeans (usually with permission) into miniskirts and handbags.  However, it was in adulthood, when “Pregnant” magically appeared on that deceptively innocuous stick that upcycling fused from lingering hobby to necessity.

At 23 years old, with a psychology degree from Tulane University, former addresses in Manhattan, New Orleans, Oahu, Raleigh, Miami, and far less impressive home décor, my husband and I packed up our paltry possessions from our Sunny Isles Beach apartment, crazy lab mix Coco, and my six month pregnant belly and moved back to the Northeast.

Determined and ecstatic to devote myself to motherhood, I delved into preparing a nursery for my baby girl.  I quickly realized all the little touches, any décor outside of the basics of furniture, I had to create myself.  This compounded during holidays, birthdays, and lo and behold, the crafting, repurposing, refinishing, and upcycling began to wholeheartedly inspire a new life path and direction for myself and my family.  There truly is an art to reinventing, and the product, in many cases, far exceeds the presence of its former being.  Not only the foundation of King Soleil, the use of upcycled and sustainable materials has permanently changed my world perspective and helped achieve a balance in my life and how the lives’ of my family impact our planet.

Now with Soleil, 3, and Kingston, 1, my home is filled with upcycled and handmade furniture, rugs, clothing, accessories, and art.  King Soleil allows you to bring in those same handcrafted, eco friendly, made-with-love products into your home, from baby’s first blankie and nursery décor, to children’s fashions, and cozy rugs to warm your toes.

Let me show you how being green can be chic, modern, luxurious, and fabulously one-of-a-kind.
